Rothwell Park is located at the corner of Ninth and East Market Streets, next to the Downtown Recreation Center.  It is within short walking distance of the Center.

From the Downtown Mall: From the east end of the mall, walk one block north to East Market Street and walk east past the Recreation Center to the intersection with Ninth Street.  The park borders the sidewalks at the corner.


2006 Update:  Rothwell Park has been demolished to make way for the new Charlottesville Pavilion, which replaces the Downtown Amphitheater.  The historic fountain has been moved to Court Square across from the Albemarle County Courthouse and once again has running water.  The Downtown Recreation Center has been renamed the Herman Key, Jr. Center.
